Use of Visuals in story telling

Visuals in story telling

I mean static pictures, either drawn or photos. The amount visuals used changes the language of story telling.

A Painting – Visual Story without words

A Graphic novel – Pictures and dialogs (text)

or Visually augmented (like this post) – Regular text stories with few images to augment the storyline.

Just text – all the images are in imagination

Each one of these have different languages and effect. A picture is equivalent to 1000 words, however a well written story can generate much better imagination than a visual.
